REPORT: Many gaps marred previous elections; will they be controlled in the next one?

The Lebanese Association for Democratic Elections (LADE) issues after every election, whether municipal or parliamentary, a detailed report listing dozens of briberies caught red-handed.

However, the judicial authorities have never invalidated the win of not one candidate, whose campaign had been proven to have paid bribes.

The bribes are not the only issue requiring reform measures in the new electoral law, but the real issue lies in controlling the candidates’ electoral spending.
