(Pics)Turkey Launches Operation Olive Branch in Afrin-South Aleppo

Turkish military on Saturday announced it launched “Operation Olive Branch” on Saturday at 5.00 p.m. The Turkish General Staff made the announcement in a statement published on its website.

The statement said that the operation only targets terrorists and their shelters, weapons and belonging and that no civilian would be harmed.

“Operation Olive Branch has been started on Jan. 20, 2018 at 5 p.m., in Syria’s northwestern Afrin region to establish security and stability on our borders and region, to eliminate terrorists and Daesh, and to save our friends from the terrorists’ oppression and cruelty.”

Turkish military units are already deployed in Afrin, a district of Aleppo near the Turkish-Syria border, which is under siege by the PYD/PKK terrorist organization.

Turkish FM stated that written information was given to Syrian regime regarding the operation while Syrian denies it.
