The President of the Republic Michel Aoun followed up on Tuesday, with his visitors the latest political contacts and the general situation in the country, especially those regarding reaching a consensus over a new election law.
In this context, President Michel Aoun met at Baabda palace with former minister Jean Obeid and discussed the latest attempts to reach a consensus over a new election law.
Moreover, the President received the Director of the Technical Institute of the Congregation of the Antonin’s Fathers, Father Charbel Bou Abboud at the head of a delegation of the Institute. The delegation presented President Aoun with a commemorative icon. The latter congratulated the Technical Institute on the success of its fourth Conference and commended the work of the Institute for the dissemination of arts, the formation of the new generation and the refinement of the artistic culture of which Lebanon is so proud.
President Aoun also welcomed Mrs. Zeina Efrem, President of the Association National Festival of Jounieh at the head of a delegation of the festival. Mrs. Efrem informed the President about the program of the festival for 2017 and the preparations for its launch. He also received a delegation from the family of former President Elias Sarkis, which included the gentlemen Karim, Joseph, Makram and Elias Sarkis.
President Aoun made it clear to all of his visitors that the requested law must be in harmony with his already outlined principles in terms of correct representation, and equality among citizens, regardless of their religious affiliations.
