President Aoun held at the presidential palace an “Iftar” ceremony on the occasion of Ramadan.
(“Ramadan” is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting (Sawm) to commemorate the first revelation of the Quran, and “Iftar” is the main meal that is served after fasting.)
During the ceremony, and in front of his guests, former Lebanese presidents, as well as former and actual lawmakers and ministers, among them the Prime Minister Hariri and the speaker of the house Nabih Berri, President Aoun stressed on how important the new voting law is, “because it will demonstrate the willingness to improve popular representation and make it more balanced.”
The president said that “the completion of the electoral law, in the days to come will be the beginning of restoration of confidence.”
