“Lebanese Forces” leader Samir Geagea stressed the paramount importance of state budget to run public affairs, saying that rectifying the electricity predicament in the country is essential for state budget.
“Our suggestion does not entail interfering in the powers of Water and Energy Minister [Cesar Abi Khalil],” Geagea said in his address on Thursday during his patronage of Kesrouan-Ftouh Development Conference, organized by the LF Local development Department at the General headquarters in Meerab.
The event comes as part of a plan by the Department under the technical supervision of CDDG in the aim of flourishing communities in Lebanon and the preservation and protection of natural resources, through the dissemination of sustainable development concepts to build sophisticated and up-to-date society at the economic, social and political level.
Geagea stressed that the LF aims from its government work to reform the existing status quo, saying the LF realized during its study of the state budget draft the existence of a clause- if rectified, can spare the state an amount of one billion and 200 million dollars of the deficit in the subject of electricity.
The Lf leader called on the government to privatize the electricity sector at the lowest cost, given that the state electricity production cost is higher than the private sector by 1.5 %.
The LF leader stressed that the unyielding and cohesiveness of the agreement between the LF and the Free Patriotic Movement is similar to his and General Aoun’s cohesiveness and resilience.
