President Michel Aoun said on Thursday the time has come for Lebanon to have a new electoral law to govern the upcoming parliamentary elections.
“After nine years, it is about time to draft a new voting system,” said Aoun addressing visiting families from the Upper Metn region.
“We have succeeded at building our national unity, and we will work for achieving complete citizenship for all,” he added.
“We will be able to resolve all the difficulties we face and we will reach a new electoral law,” said the President, adding “it is time to put in place a new electoral law after nine years.”
The President assured that he won’t accept another extension of the parliament’s term, or maintaining the current electoral law or a vacuum at the legislative authority.
