09 Jan. 2017 – The Lebanese Ski Federation invited the General Secretary of the International Ski Federation and a former alpine skier who competed in the 1988 Winter Olympics, Sarah Lewis, to Lebanon.
The British will arrive in Lebanon at 6:00 PM today where we will welcome her in the VIP Lounge of the Beirut Airport.
During her stay, Sarah Lewis will visit the slopes of Gebran Khalil Gebran in Arz, which is the official venue of the SES Ski Championship that will be organized by the Lebanese Ski Federation from the 12th to the 15th of January 2017, with the participation of 12 countries: Lithuania, Romania, Portugal, Cyprus, Serbia, Armenia, San Marino, Hungary, Slovakia, Albania, Greece and the host nation, Lebanon.
The championship will include the Men and Women Seniors categories as well as the Youth Boys and Girls which will give our youngsters a great opportunity to shine among the 12 countries and gain more experience.
It has been since 1967 that our country didn’t welcome a guest like the Secretary General of the International Ski Federation. It is essential for the Lebanese Federation to have a good relationship with the FIS especially that the latest is supporting our federation in their International participations and that the Lebanese Federation is attending the General Assembly meeting of the FIS.
Lewis will meet the president of the Federation Charbel Salame and the members of the Federation, as well as the different delegations who will take part in the SES Championship. She will also have a tour in Becharre and Arz, and will look for new places where we can build new Ski stations.
Finally, we should note that Sarah Lewis also participated in World Championship and was elected as Secretary General of the FIS back in 2000, and is still at her position which shows that she gained the trust of the international federations.
