Interior Minister Nouhad al-Mashnouq held an extended meeting with at least 20 ambassadors, during which he explained in detailed the preparations under way for the elections and the voting process based on the electoral law.
“The elections are important to safeguard the democratic system and political stability in Lebanon,” Interior Minister Nouhad el-Mashnouk announced Tuesday. The upcoming spring parliamentary elections will be held on time and the Ministry of the Interior is ready for it, Mashnouk said during a meeting held at the ministry with diplomats and representatives of the new electoral law.
The ministry’s technical and administrative team gave a presentation to 24 ambassadors and representatives of 22 countries, the European Union, the United Nations and the UNDP, and provided the attendees with an overview of the electoral law, the system for expat voting and measures catering for people with special needs.
Minister Mashnouk concluded by assuring to all participants the importance of the elections in protecting the Lebanese democratic system.
