NNA – Member of Parliament, Ibrahim Kanaan, on Thursday could not help but wonder how some sides were depicting the endorsement of the salary scale as a “huge crime” at the time that the matter had been thoroughly discussed by the joint parliamentary committees that were represented by all the political blocs.
“I would like to ask those rejecting the tax increase to suggest alternative ways to fund the salary scale unless their prime aim is to hinder the endorsement of the wages scale to start with,” Kanaan said in an intervention he made earlier today during the legislative session.
“Effective reform doesn’t happen at the expense of shrinking teachers’ wages, or by forbidding the military from getting their righteous wages increase, but by dealing with the core issue. We seek reform and plan to implement it with action not theories,” Kanaan added.
