Berri at the inauguration of Arab Parliamentary Union Conference: Consensus over fighting terrorism

Head of the Arab Parliamentary Union, House Speaker Nabih Berri, said on Monday that the cancer of terrorism can be obliterated through consensus, and that the Palestinian cause must win back its central status, a thing that requires national Palestinian unity.

MP Michel Moussa delivered Berri’s speech at the opening session of the twenty-fourth Arab Parliamentary Union Conference in Morocco’s capital, Rabat.

“The Arab world must grant the Palestinian cause its central status, as well as rebuild trust in Arab relations with the Muslim neighborhood.”

Turning to terrorism, Berri said that confronting the cancerous takfirist terrorism could happen through formulating unified legislation that prosecuted this terrorism, and “took measures to drain its resources.”

Following defeat in Iraq and Syria, terrorism would seek other grounds. Berri warned that Lebanon and Jordan could be targeted next.

Berri’s speech was received favorably by the head of the Moroccan Parliament, who said that those suggestions would be part of the conference’s recommendations, to be issued tomorrow.
