Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said Saturday that Israel was hit in its soul during the 2006 war.
“The Israeli army was rocked, which led to a crisis of confidence within its military institution,” Sayyed Nasrallah said in a televised speech marking 10 years since the Lebanon-Israel war.
“Israel’s main purpose was to suppress the resistance and ‘build a new Middle East,’ but these goals have failed,” Nasrallah added.
He also noted that during the 2006 war, Israel was an operational tool for the American project, stressing that President Barack Obama’s administration was behind the creation of the so-called Islamic State after a project for a “new Middle East” had failed.
As for Lebanon’s presidential file, Hezbollah chief reiterated his support for the candidacy of Change and Reform bloc head MP Michel Aoun.
“Our only candidate for the speakership is Nabih Berri,” he added.
On another note, Nasrallah pointed out that “Lebanon is capable of protecting its oil and gas reserves.”
