Prime Minister Saad Hariri said on Monday that President Michel Aoun’s trip to Saudi Arabia is an important step on the right Arab track in order to rebuild the bilateral relations between Lebanon and the Gulf.
Hariri welcomed at the Grand Serail today Beirut Families Union, headed by Dr. Fawzi Zaidan, with whom he discussed the current political situation in the country, in addition to demands relevant to the Lebanese capital.
“The initiative that we made aimed to end the political rift and save the country. As you can see, we ended the rift with dialogue and agreement, and we managed to elect a new president of the republic and form a government,” Hariri told his visitors.
“We are keen on adopting the policy of dialogue and openness to solve all the problems we might encounter. We will do our best to restore citizens’ trust in the state,” he added.
On the economic level, Hariri indicated that the government had started a series of meetings with a panel of concerned sides and officials to activate national economy and address citizens’ daily life issues.
“We believe that political stability is a key contributor to security stability. economic development, and creating job opportunities to the youth.”
Pertaining to the election law, the Prime Minister maintained that the issue was on-the-table among the political parties.
Hariri has earlier met with a French parliamentary delegation, headed by French lawmaker Thierry Mariani, in presence of MP Atef Majdalani.
Talks reportedly touched on latest developments on the regional scene.
