The United Australian Lebanese Movement in Melbourne held its annual dinner dance, on a night that proved to be a huge success.
400 guests representing UALM supporters as well as members from Sydney and Adelaide joined representatives of political parties and community groups in celebrating the evening. The event was also attended by UALM Federal President and Federal Secretary.
MC George Shouery introduced Federal Senator Kimberley Kitching who spoke highly of the activities of the UALM in the community as well as expressing her hope in Lebanon’s future with the Leadership of President Michel Aoun.
Victorian branch President Maroun Khoury welcomed the attendees, and spoke in depth on the vision of the FPM, now and into the future.
Poet Antoine Barsouna gave an outstanding performance of traditional Lebanese poetry, zajal.
The last speaker of the evening was FPM leader, Minister of Foreign Affairs Gebran Bassil who addressed the important role of the Lebanese Diaspora in the upcoming stage of Lebanon’s political and social life, imploring each member of the Diaspora to make a difference for the sake of Lebanon.
Guests included Consul General Ghassan Al Khatib, Minister Marlene Kairouz, MP Nazih El Asmar as well as Health workers Union Secretary Diana Asmar.
As the function was held at our Lady of Lebanon church hall, the evening was blessed with the attendance of Parish Priest Father Allen Fares.
Party goes enjoyed lavish dinner and danced until the early hours of the evening.
