President of the Republic, Michel Aoun, discussed the latest developments in Syria after Israeli strikes early Saturday with Speaker Nabih Berri and Prime Minister Saad Hariri, who is outside Lebanon, NNA correspondent said.
President Aoun also called Defense Minister Yaacoub Sarraf and Lebanese Army chief General Joseph Aoun who gave him military and security reports.
According to the NNA, Lebanon’s response and security measures would depend on how the situation develops and the Lebanese Army is not on high alert on the border, but believed that any security development requires measures and caution to be taken.
Furthermore, the Defense Minister Yaacoub Sarraf called on the UNIFIL commander Major General Michael Beary and the Lebanese Army commander General Joseph Aoun to talk about the Israeli attacks, a statement from the ministry’s media office reported.
“Lebanon rejects ongoing Israeli violations, such as the ones that occurred today over the southern towns,” Sarraf said he told Beary. He added that Israel continuously and blatantly violates Lebanon’s sovereignty.
