A Hamas official was injured in a car bombing in Sidon, southern Lebanon a military sources told French news agency AFP.
Furthermore, a Hamas official in Lebanon Ayman Shanaa said that Mohammad Hamdan was “injured lightly in the legs by a car bombing,” however a medical official source said his wounds were severe.
The same source told the reporters that a silver BMW, in the southern port city of Sidon, “detonated, wounding Hamas official Mohammed Hamdan.” An AFP journalist in Sidon saw the burnt-out vehicle in a parking lot of an apartment building where Hamdan lived.
Firefighters arrived to put out the flames and Lebanese security forces quickly cordoned off the area. The Lebanese Red Cross confirmed that there was only one person wounded in the blast and said he had been transported to hospital in a civilian vehicle.
Hamas in a statement blamed Israel for the “criminal” act that wounded Hamdan in his leg.
“The occupation is the only beneficiary of harming security in Lebanon. We will leave it to the competent security authorities to investigate the explosion that targeted one of our cadres in Sidon,” Hamas group said in its statement carried on its news outlet Al Aqsa TV.
