The Shura Council suspended on Friday a decision taken by Minister of Telecommunications Jamal al-Jarrah to give licenses for fiber optic development to private companies.
Lebanese Parliament’s Media and Telecommunications Committee in October had called for public telecommunications company Ogero, rather than private companies, to install the fiber optics, arguing that the state-run entity was fit for the task.
