Three al-Qaeda terrorists were killed in Yemen during a US counterterrorism airstrike on Thursday, the US Central Command announced in a press release.
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — In July, the al-Qaeda linked al-Nusra Front announced that it changed its name to Jabhat Fatah al-Sham.
Earlier this week, Obama stated that the US-led coalition has recently killed Daesh deputy war chief Basim Muhammad al-Bajari, Mosul commander Hatim Talib al-Hamduni and its Minister of War Omar al-Shishan, or Omar the Chechen.
“The US military conducted a counterterrorism strike against al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula in the Shabwah Governorate in central Yemen,” the release stated on Friday. “The strike, conducted on August 4, killed three al-Qaeda operatives.”
