Reuters reported that Hurricane Irma knocked out power to more than 3 million homes and businesses in Florida on Sunday, threatening millions more as it crept up the state’s west coast, and full restoration of service could take weeks, local electric utilities said.
Nearly 7 million people in the Southeast were warned to evacuate, including 6.4 million in Florida alone.
There were no immediate confirmed reports of any deaths from the storm in Florida, however it left at least 27 people dead across the Caribbean.
