President Michel Aoun inspected on Wednesday several dams that are still under construction in Qaysamani, Bekaata, Balaa, Janneh and Msaylha, accompanied by the Minister of Energy Cesar Abi Khalil, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Gebran Bassil, and the Minister of State for the Affairs of the Presidency Pierre Raffoul.
During the inspection, President Michel Aoun called the construction of water dams an important project and a step towards sustainable development, “such infrastructure could achieve a balanced economic development and improve power supply with low-cost hydroelectricity,” the state-run National News Agency reported Wednesday.
The president concluded his tour by saying that these projects are vital for Lebanon, “they will gradually stop the waste of water, and will achieve the desire of the Lebanese to take advantage of their water.”
