NNA – Finance Minister, Ali Hasan Khalil, on Thursday voiced rejection to any return to 1960 law in parliamentary elections, expressing optimism about continuing dialogue in favor of reaching a new electoral law.
Minister Khalil’s stance came Thursday in the context of his meeting with representatives of youth organizations of different parties.
“We must develop the electoral law in order to improve our political regime. We, as a political side, are pressing all our efforts, and we meet with Hezbollah and talk with Free Patriotic Movement and Future in order to reach a law not based absolutely on proportionality and not for sure on 1960 law. We are working upon this base,” said Khalil.
