Abi Ramia:We have historical opportunity to achieve accomplishments

NNA – “Change and Reform” parliamentary bloc member MP Simon Abi Ramia stressed on Saturday that the most important titles of the new presidential era would be fighting corruption, separating authorities and strengthening transparency and control authorities.

Abi Ramia told “Voice of Lebanon” radio station that a preliminary rapproachement has been put to highlight the fingerprints which this era can leave to bring down all the old traditions of the previous presidential eras.

The MP stressed the utmost need to approve a new modern electoral law which represents all the components of the Lebanese society, noting that the “Free Patriotic Movement” (FPM) would not practice the disruption logic and would “demand a fair balanced representation for all sects.”

The lawmaker underscored that the accomplishment of the presidential deadline was Lebanese on the contrary of the released rumors, praising the positive atmosphere which prevailed after the election of a new President.

Abi Ramia said, “There is no return to the back. We are in front of a historical opportunity to achieve reform, developmental and political accomplishments; if we did not seize this opportunity, we would kill the future and hopes of the Lebanese youth.”

Talking about the governmental structure, Abi Ramia explained that the new era is based on all parties’ participation, demanding “to respect rotation principle as for the ministerial portfolios (…) and Prime Minister Hariri agreed with FPM to respect this principle.”

The MP noted that the said principle might not be taken into consideration in the formation of the upcoming new cabinet as it is a transitional cabinet which is tasked with accomplishing the parliamentary elections deadline.
