President-elect Trump tweeted Saturday afternoon that the United Nations Security Council resolution condemning Israeli settlements will make Middle East peace “much harder” to achieve, but vowed to get it done regardless.
“The big loss yesterday for Israel in the United Nations will make it much harder to negotiate peace.Too bad, but we will get it done anyway!” Trump tweeted.
Friday’s abstention vote by the United States marked a dramatic change in its Israel policy in the waning days of President Obama‘s administration; the U.S. has vetoed similar proposals for decades. After the vote, Trump tweeted that “things will be different after Jan. 20th.”
