On the International Day of Francophonie, which falls today, Saturday March 20, the President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, saluted the fluent or partial speakers of the French language in Lebanon and the world. “We are committed to the universal basic values that this language carries, the most important which are respect for human rights, democracy, linguistic and cultural pluralism, and inclusive dialogue.”
President Aoun affirmed Lebanon’s commitment to preserving the Francophonie and working within its institutions, considering the visit of the Secretary General of the International Organization of la Francophonie, Mrs. Louise Mushikiwabo to Lebanon next Tuesday, “evidence of this commitment and the distinguished historical relationship between Lebanon and the Francophone countries.”
