Pentagon: Recent Airstrikes in Syria May Have Hurt Civilians

The U.S. military says three airstrikes against Islamic State targets in Syria during the last week may have resulted in civilian casualties.

In a statement released Tuesday, the U.S. Central Command said an airstrike near Deir Ez Zur on September 7 struck a non-military vehicle that drove into the target area after a coalition aircraft released its weapons.

On September 10 near Raqqa, a coalition airstrike against an IS target may have resulted in the deaths of civilians nearby.

In a third coalition airstrike September 12 near Ash Shaddadah, what appeared to be a non-military vehicle drove into the target area after the weapon was released.

The statement did not give a number of dead or injured.
