The Syrian government and rebel groups agreed to a nationwide cease-fire starting a midnight (22:00 GMT) Thursday. The deal was brokered this week by Russia and Turkey and excludes the groups designated by the United Nations as terrorist. If the truce holds, peace talks will be held in Kazakhstan within a month. VOA’s Zlatica Hoke reports.
