Investigative agencies have spotted a Deobandi namely Abdul Hafeez Pandrani, a local resident of Shikarpur, as the mastermind of three suicide bombings in the district, including an attack on Eidul Azha. All these terrorist attacks were aimed at massacring Shia Muslims. Pandrani belongs to Deobandi takfiri terrorist outfit Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, a sister-wing of proscribed ASWJ.
Pandrani, whose name is now atop the ‘most wanted terrorists list’, is stated to be an active ringleader of the banned terrorist outfit Lakskar-e-Jhangvi, named after the deceased godfather of proscribed ASWJ of Ludhianvi. Pandrani belongs to a village near the Shikarpur city.
More than 60 Shia Muslims were massacred in three separate suicide attacks. On May 1, 2013 a famous politician and former MNA Ibrahim Jatoi, himself a Shia Muslim, escaped unharmed in a suicide bombing in the Shikarpur district, which left two people wounded.
On January 30, 2015 an explosion inside an Imambargah in Shikarpur believed to be a suicide attack left at least 60 people dead and 60 others injured.
On September 13 this year, a suicide attack was foiled but one of the bombers, identified as Abdur Rehman, and a policeman were killed while one bomber Usman Yousufzai was arrested in Khanpur, the main town of Shikarpur district. Sources said that many evidences had been found against Abdul Hafeez Pandrani.
