FPM’s Leader from the Casino: “No to Extension and yes to a New Law !”

Free Patriotic Movement Leader, Minister Gebran Bassil assured in the annual ceremony of “Casino du Liban” management and gaming event, Friday afternoon that work is currently undertaken to reach a new electoral law that will guarantee a proper representation to all the Lebanese.

A new electoral law is the only key that can restore the Lebanese rights and the specter of extension must be dispelled,” Minister Bassil added during the ceremony.

We cannot believe that more than twenty proposed electoral laws have all failed to receive an approval,” the leader said, and added “such refusal means that some parties are seeking another extension of parliament’s term, an extension that we refuse categorically.”

“We will say No to extension and yes to a new law,” Minister Bassil assured, and emphasized on the fact that the respect for the 1943 National Pact must also involve parliament, and not only the government.“

The FPM’s leader concluded by saying that “the FPM is ready to sacrifice parliamentary seats in order to avoid a parliamentary extension.”
