A delegation of the Free Patriotic Movement met with Marada Movement chief MP Suleiman Franjieh on Wednesday as part of a tour with various political parties to discuss the need to devise a new electoral law ahead of the upcoming parliamentary elections.
The delegation comprised of MPs Alain Aoun, Ziad Aswad and Walid Khoury.
“We agree with Marada on an electoral law based on proportional representation. It is the best law to represent Lebanon’s diversity,” said Aoun after the meeting.
On the tense relations between the two, Aoun said it is not impossible to handle as he assured that the rift will be mended, he remarked: “The FPM has common interests with the Marada Movement and the relations between us will be mended.”
On Tuesday the delegation met with the Kataeb party after holding similar talks a day earlier with the Lebanese Forces and the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc.
The Change and Reform bloc’s meeting came as part of an initiative it launched to separate the cabinet formation process from an agreement on a new electoral law.
