Ministers convened on Wednesday in a cabinet session which is the first for the newly formed government, after having gained confidence votes. The session held at the Baabda Palace under the chairmanship of President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, and in the presence of Prime Minister Saad Hariri and Minister, will be tackling 24 items, on top of which the oil decrees, the mecanique inspection issue and the appointment of Ogero’s Board of Directors and Director General.
At the outset of the meeting, President Aoun requested a minute of silence to mourn the martyrs of the terrorist attack in Istanbul.
In this context, Aoun praised the official action taken in the wake of the attack, by following up on the conditions of the wounded and working on repatriating the bodies of the martyrs. The president also tackled the Angola incident which claimed the life of Lebanese businessman Amin Bakri, adding that “the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is following up on the matter and any related data, in light of the recent information that the Israeli Mossad may be behind the crime.”
Aoun also commended the work of the security forces on New Year’s Eve and highlighted the measures taken to preserve security.
