Researchers at the University of Michigan broke IBM’s record by developing a computer smaller than a grain of rice.
M3, The world’s smallest computer is again signed by researchers at the University of Michigan. The nano-device is smaller than a grain of rice. It measures only 0.3 mm on one side.
The M3 is only one-tenth (1/10) of Salt, the smallest IBM computer to date and holding the record size.
Embedded in RAM and photovoltaic cells, the device developed by the University of Michigan, has a processor inspired by the design of a ARM Cortex-M0 + and wireless transmitters / receivers. It is able to transmit and receive data via light. Note that once off, it does not keep its data, same as its predecessor.
