The Lebanese Armed Forces Commander General Joseph Aoun left Beirut on Saturday heading to the United States of America on a four-day official visit, after receiving official invites from senior American officials.
During his stay, General Aoun is scheduled to meet several military and civilian officials to discuss ways to strengthen relations between both armies.
“During an official visit, after an invite from U.S. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Joseph Dunford, the Lebanese Army commander, Major General Joseph Aoun will meet a number of officials to reinforce bilateral ties between the armies of the two nations,” a statement from the Lebanese Army reported.
The visit was postponed a month ago due to the Fajr-el-Jouroud operation in Arsal, and during which the Lebanese army ended 3 years of ISIS’ occupation, (Known as Daesh), in the Lebanese region of Arsal, el-Quaa and Ras Baalbek.
