Kahwagi vows to preserve Aoun’s tenure, next polls and country’s stability

Army Commander General Jean Kahwagi pledged on Friday to safeguard the presidential tenure of President Michel Aoun and to protect the upcoming parliamentary elections.
“The army units’ main missions for the coming period are defending the country against the Israeli enemy, fighting terrorism and safeguarding the country’s security and stability,” Qahwaji said during a meeting the Lebanese army’s top officers.

“The election of General Michel Aoun as President, the formation of a new government and the resumption of parliament’s legislative role have led to boosting the country’s stability,” Kahwagi noted.
He also vowed that “the army will deploy its utmost security efforts to safeguard the presidential tenure and to achieve its aspirations, especially regarding the protection of the next parliamentary polls.”
