Aoun grants wish to teen with cancer, meets with her at Baabda Palace

NNA – The dream of 17-year-old cancer patient Hayat Hennaoui came true on Saturday when President Michel Aoun met with her at Baabda Palace along with her mother and two siblings.

Hayat’s dream to meet Aoun was made possible through the aid of Tamanna Organization. Tamanna is a non-profit association that grants the wishes of children with critical illnesses. Aoun met with her at his presidential office and took her on a tour of the halls of the Palace and the garden.

“I have empathy with the young generation and I sense the anxiety of the youth and their longing for a country that is free of corruption…a country that embodies the hopes of all Lebanese to remain in their homeland,” said Aoun, adding that it was the responsibility of every official to realize the hopes of the youth for a dignified living.

The 17-year-old, currently undergoing therapy at Saint Jude’s Children Cancer Center, told the press after the meeting that her lifelong dream was to meet with Aoun.

“I have loved the President since I was a little girl,” said Hayat, “I love him because he is capable of changing our lives and conditions, and he is able to help us. I am certain that President Aoun will implement [changes]. He has promised me so. And I believe that Lebanon will prosper and be once again Switzerland of the Levant.”

Meeting with the President elevated Hayat’s spirits and gave her hope that the happiness she felt would work better than any other medication.
